Some color for the laundry closet

I’m very jealous of the people that have actual laundry rooms. I only have a closet. It has enough floorspace for the washer, the dryer, and the Litter Maid between them. I am, however, thankful to have the laundry closet that I do. Originally my house (built in the late 1920s) did not have a [...]

Luminaries

Original inspiration for this project came from here. Finished product: Supplies needed: stapler, vellum, ribbon (optional), paper cutter, glue/way to attach the ribbon (I used my Xyron sticker maker), and battery operated tea lights. I bought 3 sheets of 8.5″x11″ vellum from Hobby Lobby yesterday; originally 69cents but they were on sale for 50% off. [...]

The dresser is done!

Remember this dresser? Here is the backstory on how I came to own the dresser. My paternal grandfather was a dumpster diver. He found this dresser left at the dump and brought it home to store some tools. At the time it was a beat-up dingy shade of white. I was in college and was [...]

Custom Geek Art

My husband is a geek. And I don’t say that like it is a bad thing. I, most of the time, adore his geekly ways and support him in them. Recently I came to a decision, since most of the house is my taste and style Hubs needed at least one place in the house [...]

Homemade Soap

For years I’ve been fascinated with the idea of making my own soap. I never attempted it because the websites/blogs/books all seemed more determined to scare you rather than help you. When I turned 30 last month I decided that my birthday money would be spent on soap supplies so that I could try out [...]

Marshmallow Gun

My oldest nephew’s 7th birthday party was last weekend. I needed a present, fast. And cheap. I turned to Google and asked for ideas. Most of them were not suitable for J (not something he would be interested in) or were not something I was comfortable making and giving. I might have wanted cheap but [...]

No sew apron

I’m on a pretty big No-Sew kick here lately. Mostly thanks to my sewing machine cord turning into a chew toy for a cat and me not having any sewing skill. I see all these great ideas on blogs and usually pass them on by because I can’t sew right now. Occasionally though I’ll get [...]

Easy (and inexpensive!) Wall Art

I love taking pictures. I was given a macro lens as a gift this past Christmas that turned even the weeds in my yard into objects d’art. This means I have lots and lots of photos that I want to display but not enough frames to display them with. Especially with how expensive frames can [...]

Picture Frame Redo

A few years ago, when back in Louisiana for Christmas I picked up some reprint postcards of 6 vintage signs from the area. The intention was to frame them up and hang them in my kitchen. However, 3 of the postcards are an odd square size and I didn’t want to pay for custom mats [...]

New Clothesline! and a Dishtowel Clothespin Bag No-Sew Tutorial

I was inspired by this post over at Fireflies and Jellybeans to make an actual clothesline. Previously I had used the two pine trees and the fence in our backyard and just wound rope around them. Hubs hated it cause he swore it tried to kill him every time he mowed. I didn’t care for [...]

  • About Me

    My name is Haley.

I'm a wife, geologist, crafter, smart-ass, and general pain-in-the-ass. I have many and varied interests, including: knitting, scrapbooking, photography, reading, refinishing furniture, tweaking the decorations around my house, and annoying my husband. Yes, annoying my husband is a hobby; one that I greatly enjoy.

Welcome to where I document portions of my life.
